About our sport

Croquet is a sport played on grass using mallets, four balls and six hoops. It’s like playing a mix of snooker and chess on a flat grass lawn.

The object of this tactical game is to hit your ball(s) through the course of six hoops in the right sequence whilst trying to prevent the opposing side from scoring.

There are two types of Croquet: Association Croquet and Golf Croquet.

In Sion we play Golf Croquet as it is more social and fun. We often play doubles, where each person has a ball, but we also play singles where each person plays with two balls.

The Swiss Croquet Association, whose aim is to promote the game of croquet in different areas of Switzerland has clubs in Geneva, Zurich, Rheinfelden (AG) and now new members in Sion.
